Workouts Help Manage Stress
I never thought I’d be here doing this. I worked in an office for 18 years where I was able to hide behind my desk and just do my work and go home to my family. My own workouts got me through life, any stress I had I would do a workout and for that 45 minutes to an hour I thought about nothing else but me and how much intensity I could put into my workout.
When I was finished my workout, whatever stress I had was still there but the difference was how I handled it. After my every workout I was mentally able to take on any challenges life was throwing at me. To me exercising and working out was not just to keep my body in shape but it was also to keep my mind space healthy, so I could be a better Mum, Wife, Daughter, Friend or even Employee.
I always put 100% into anything I ever did but this was actually a stress I would put
on myself strangely enough. For some reason I had it in my head I needed to be perfect at everything so the down side was the internal stress I was placing on myself, which if I’m being honest had multiplied when I became a Personal Trainer. I strive to be the perfect trainer but realised there is no such thing, so I'm now working on changing my mind set from been "perfect" to being "right" for each individual and to give my best to helping each client reach their goals and targets one step at a time.
I have to admit it was a massive change of profession for me. From hiding behind a desk to actually teaching and putting myself out there was a huge step outside my comfort zone. However, with every week, I gained confidence not only in my own abilities but in the abilities of all my clients and it is such an amazing feeling when you can help people take the first of many steps in their journey to a healthy life both physically and mentally. If all of this has happened in less than a year, I’m so excited for what the future has to hold both in my career and in my family life.
If I can do it then so can you! Don't let stress manage your life, let working out manage your stress. A healthy mind leads to a healthy body. All it takes is some basic but fun exercising to focus your attention on your goals and to help you achieve a happier and healthier lifestyle.
We all live hectic lifestyles but I found it very important to find time to do my workouts. The benefits of a small amount of exercising each week will help you manage the day to day stress we all feel in life.
Don't just think about it... Do something about it!!
